Merrimac STP Recycled Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Projection Duration - Sept 2021 - Jan 2023

Ferrier Engineering assisted and successfully completed the design and implementation of a new recycled water treatment plant in Merrimac STP. The three main systems in this plant are the filtration system, backwash system and recycled water pump station. This plant feeds takes Class C effluent from the existing sewage treatment plant and further processes it to Class A recycled water. At full capacity the plant can produce 5ML a day 

Plant Features

  • New feed pumps pulling Class C effluent from the existing disinfection chamber
  • Chemical dosing system for Sodium Hypochlorite and Aluminium Sulphate
  • New treatment facility with media filters and a UV disinfection system
  • New recycled water and backwash water concrete storage tanks
  • New recycled water pump station

Responsibilities

  • 3D laser scanning of existing site conditions and geometry for placement of new treatment facility
  • Development of detailed design and fabrication drawings for the project
  • Mechanical and structural design for pipework, supports and other ancillary equipment
  • Hydraulic design of rising and gravity main pipelines and specification of pump systems.
