Merrimac STP Recycled Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Overview

Projection Duration - Sept 2021 - Jan 2023

Ferrier Engineering assisted and successfully completed the design and implementation of a new recycled water treatment plant in Merrimac STP. The three main systems in this plant are the filtration system, backwash system and recycled water pump station. This plant takes Class C effluent from the existing sewage treatment plant and further processes it to Class A recycled water. At full capacity the plant can produce 5ML a day 

Plant Features

  • New feed pumps pulling Class C effluent from the existing disinfection chamber
  • Chemical dosing system for Sodium Hypochlorite and Aluminium Sulphate
  • New treatment facility with media filters and a UV disinfection system
  • New recycled water and backwash water concrete storage tanks
  • New recycled water pump station

Responsibilities

  • 3D laser scanning of existing site conditions and geometry for placement of new treatment facility
  • Development of detailed design and fabrication drawings for the project
  • Mechanical and structural design for pipework, supports and other ancillary equipment
  • Hydraulic design of rising and gravity main pipelines and specification of pump systems.
